View CAD Drawings on iPhone through Microsoft Seadragon Deep Zoom Technology from Informative Graphics
Technology Enables Viewing of Large CAD Files as Deep Zoom Images via
Customized Microsoft Silverlight, Seadragon AJAX and the Seadragon iPhone App
SCOTTSDALE, AZ — March 17, 2010 - Informative
Graphics Corporation (IGC), a leader in viewing, collaboration
and redaction technology, announced today that its Net-It Enterprise 7.0 automated document
publishing platform will convert oversized CAD drawings—including AutoCAD®, MicroStation, and SolidWorks
formats—images and office documents to Microsoft Deep Zoom images. Created by Microsoft Labs, Deep Zoom is
revolutionary technology that enables high resolution viewing of images as a collection. The images can be
accessed through Silverlight, Seadragon AJAX and the Seadragon iPhone App.
Architects, contractors, facilities management professionals and attorneys specializing in these practice
areas will benefit from the new portability and instant accessibility of drawings and project files afforded
by this technology. With Net-It Enterprise, new drawings or documents are automatically detected, processed
and added to RSS-ready Deep Zoom collections, ensuring project collections are always current. Contractors,
sub-contractors, inspectors and other authorized personnel can call up the latest drawings on their desktops,
iPhones or other mobile devices from online project RSS feeds, right from the job site, while at a meeting or
anywhere else.
Net-It Enterprise and Deep Zoom is the first technology combination that truly makes even the largest CAD
drawings from a variety of CAD systems electronically accessible in the field without carrying rolls of
blueprints everywhere. Because Net-It delivers such high resolution, users can zoom in to the smallest
detail with excellent fidelity.
“Net-It’s ability to publish CAD drawings, images and documents to Microsoft Deep Zoom offers professionals
in construction-related firms immediate access to the drawings and documents they need with great resolution,
even on an iPhone,” said Gary Heath, President and CEO of IGC. “In fact, with the great interaction that
smartphone touch screens offer, it is remarkably easy to navigate huge drawings quickly.”
The Microsoft Seadragon iPhone App is free and can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store. Net-It Enterprise is
scalable server software that can process many different types of file formats and create PDF, secure CSF, TIFF,
DWF, JPG/PNG thumbnails and now Deep Zoom output. In addition, Net-It Enterprise can burn-in annotations, stamps
and watermarks and it can be integrated to any collaboration portal or data management solution.
